Professor Harold Craxton O.B.E (Royal Academy of Music), was an eminent pianist and much-loved teacher, who also accompanied some of the finest singers and musicians of his day, including Dame Clara Butt, Dame Nellie Melba and John McCormack.
Harold and his much-loved wife Essie had six children: Timothy Craxton, a spitfire and test pilot; Antony Craxton C.V.O, the BBC's Royal and state events television director; Robert Craxton, an electronics engineer; the artist John Craxton R.A; Michael Craxton, a local Councillor and Mayor of the London Borough of Hillingdon; and the distinguished oboist Janet Craxton.
It was very much the family ethos to provide support and assistance to extremely talented young musicians who required financial help when embarking on their careers and the Trust is delighted to be continuing this work in their memories.
